2's Crash to defeat at Cranborne

Poole Town 2s kicked off their 2019 campaign away at Cranbourne. With a good mixture of young and experienced players optimism was high. This was soon dashed with Dave Spencer stepping forwards- declaring himself Captain and putting the home side in without a toss of a coin!

Cranbourne repaid this by slumping to 36 for 2 but this brought their 2 best players to the crease and they ended with a good score of 274 for 8.

Two standouts from this were Nick William's 9 overs straight taking 3 for 30 and Karthik taking 3 for 27 off 7. And not forgetting a magnificent Jonty Rhoads-esk diving stop at square leg by Scott Thompson which brought about a rash shot next ball, that saw their number 3 fall cheaply. Clearly a game changer!

Now unfortunately this is where the fairytail ends and the nightmare begins. Poole then went out to bat with little to no contribution from the players except the old faithful... Extras turned up with 40 out of the total of 80.

Oh dear, on to the next fixture and our first home match.

So to finish with the immortal words of Vince Lombardi 'it's not whether you get knocked down, its whether you get back up'- we look forward to welcoming Wimborne and Colehill 2s to the Park on Saturday.
