On a beautiful sunny day in Poole Park the T20 Final, carried over from 2020, took place between Poole Town CC and Dorchester. Poole Town captain Badrul Alam won the toss and decided to bat first. An excellent first over from Dorchester’s returning star player Dan Belt meant that Poole were soon on the back foot with Alam back in the new Covid Pavilion (distanced chairs on the edge of the outfield) and Poole in trouble at 0-1 off 1. An excellent 43 run partnership between Quinn (26) and Van Wyk (33) then helped to steady the ship and get Poole on their way. This was quickly followed by another 43 partnership between Aryan (12) and Van Wyk, and with a couple of late wickets Poole finished on a par 116.

From the first ball Poole’s bowlers and fielders were on their game! Thanks to some brilliant swing bowling from Bradley Currie (1-4) and James Kirk (3-12) and some outstanding fielding Dorchester’s top order were quickly blown away with Dorchester reduced to 22-5. This quickly became 45-9 with Alam (1-19) and Joey Wormington (2-13) joining the party. Dorchester’s innings closed at 73-9 off their 20 overs and Poole had won by 43 runs.

An excellent start to the season with some high standards being set with regards to batting, bowling and fielding.
A massive thank you to James Robinson for spending the afternoon behind the camera.
