Cornick stars as PTCC 4's take victory away to Bournemouth 5's

Poole Town 4th XI travelled to Bournemouth 5th XI with nine players, including two 14 year old debutants in Joe Cornick and Joe Dennis.

Poole Town lost the toss and were asked to field. In the third over Deepak Tamrakar took a fantastic catch at midwicket but injured his finger in the process. Poole town took regular wickets throughout with Joe Cornick taking 5 for 14 off 7 overs and Joe Dennis chipping in with one wicket and a very good run out. Both boys were sharp in the field and had a fantastic and sensible attitude. Bournemouth 5’s finishing on 144 all out.

Poole had no recognised opening batsmen and so Captain Matt Reed took the responsibility along with previous captain Aaron Power and put on a 45 run opening partnership before Aaron was trapped LBW. Mike Brennan arrived at the crease and batted sensibly on debut but fell to a very good slip catch off of Bournemouth’s young and very promising left arm spinner. The two debutant Joe’s batted one after the other both providing good support to the now well set captain.

Lizzie Williams faced 3 balls sensibly before Matt Reed scored the winning runs with a one bounce four over mid on. The captain leading by example with an unbeaten 67. Reed spent the entire match on the pitch and may not be able to move on Sunday.

The game was played in really good spirit and it was a pleasure to play with an opposition who played with respect and fairness as a priority.

Man of the Match was undoubtedly debutant Joe Cornick with his fantastic bowling figures and a sensible knock towards the end of the innings making 20 runs. A special mention must also go to Joe Dennis who bowled well and looked good with the bat. Yet again this was a game that demonstrated the talent that the club is producing through the youth section of the club. For the second week running, the youngsters have outshone the more experienced members of the team.

Next weeks home game against Weymouth 2nd XI looks set to be an exciting game again.
